- As part of an ongoing initiative in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea, Expro, a local drilling contractor, and a major operator aimed to eliminate personnel from the Red Zone during routine operations, reduce personnel on board, and reduce operational costs on an offshore platform
Expro Excellence
- Expro deployed the Mechanized Remote Boxing Device to directly address red zone risks and exposure reduction. The simple and effective design allowed the operator to remotely stab the pin end of a tubular suspended from the elevator or CRT into the box of the stump without personnel entering an active Red Zone
Value to client
- The Expro Mechanized Remote Boxing Device removed up to two people from the Red Zone during casing running operations and eliminated an estimated ~28.40 man-hours of red zone risk exposure while stabbing 852 joints of casing on the 13-3/8” and 9-5/8” sections of the well. Additionally, the Mechanized Remote Boxing Device has been used on additional intermediate casing and liner runs on the platform and is suitable for use on future completion runs with our new wireless control system
